About  Kourosh Mahboubian

I have been an art dealer since 1988, but before that I was born into a family of art dealers. Two generations of my family have preceded me in this business, and the art world has always been the backdrop of my life, shaping and guiding my vision.

Growing up, I watched my father and his friends build a number of incredible art collections. There was such a broad diversity of subject matter, from antiquities and Islamic art, to tribal masks, old master paintings, impressionist works and modern and contemporary art. Each collection bore witness to the story of a unique collector. As I developed my eye, I came to understand that a good collection is greater than the sum of its parts. I also discovered that the best ones are assembled patiently and with extraordinary passion.

Today, whether I am serving as a gallerist, an advisor, an appraiser, or a curator, I approach art with the passion and vision of the collectors from my childhood. I strive to share this with my clients and to open doors that will help them build collections that will inspire others.

About KAPOW

KAPOW is a small exhibition space established in 2022 as an independent division of Kourosh Mahboubian Fine Art. Our mission here is to highlight and promote the work of exceptional emerging to mid-career artists who are on the verge of breaking through to a higher level of mainstream success. KAPOW's focus is on presenting solo shows of those artists’ works in an intimate setting such that we may interact closely with the art and question our own preconceptions.
